Not only does Studio 189 create beautiful, colorfully printed pieces that we want to wear everywhere, but they are a beyond inspiring brand.  We discovered the brand when curating our Diversity in Design Styleboard Series, and immediately went to work to learn more.  Co-founded by Rosario Dawson and Abrima Erwiah, Studio 189 "is an artisan produced fashion lifestyle brand and social enterprise that focuses on empowerment, creating jobs and supporting education and skills training.  The brand currently operates a store in Accra (Ghana), an ecommerce site, a manufacturing facility in Accra, and supports various community led projects in Africa and in the USA, and works with artisanal communities that specialize in various traditional craftsmanship techniques including natural plant based dye indigo, hand-batik, kente weaving and more."  The result is a collection full of pieces that are stunningly bright, inspired and uplifting.

After reading all about the craftsmanship in everything from bespoke tailoring, shoe making, recycled glass beading and much more, we were so inspired and curious to know more about this brand.  Not only are they committed to artisanal production, but they are also an award-winning company that has partnered with brands like Lexus, EDUN (LVMH), Fendi, Nike, Opening Ceremony, The Surf Lodge, Okay Africa and Yoox Net a Porter.

We fell in love with their latest runway collection, and are currently obsessing over their most perfectly structured shirt dress, flowing kimonos and this incredible dress.  After combing their site, our dream shopping cart currently includes the mixed print dress of our dreams, the most perfect two piece suit and this belted short trench coat piece of perfection.
